#46 Rescue

Posted on Wed Feb 2nd, 2022 @ 4:49pm by Captain Sean Silk & Chief Warrant Officer Niraasha "Nira" Whisperwind & Commodore Cyndi Song & Lieutenant Tara Herculoid PhD & Captain Alesha Rivers

Mission: Kidnapped
Location: Various
Timeline: Current

ON:

The ship had jumped to warp five, Alesha and Tara had launched fighters and were escorting the Amandora, Davis and Jones would escort the shuttle, Silk, Doctor Bjorgo and Nira were already heading for the shuttle. All they were waiting for was Major Hurd to join them.

Davis and Jones were in position once the shuttle launched they'd escort it.

Bjorgo was in the all black fatigue pants for Starfleet combat units, with a sleeveless black Underarmor shirt. The rippling muscle and solid build were evident just in his arms. He took up an old-school Starfleet away jacket, one designed from the NX program, with all patches and badges up to date. Zipping it up midway he then took up an equipment belt and strapped it around his waist, the tactical holster on his right hip buckled down to the thigh. And, of course, his trusty teral'n was in its place along his lumbar region.

Silk, of course, was dressed in full on Starfleet tactical gear. He didn't mince words or hide anything when it came to being a soldier. His favorite weapon, his K-bar knife, was strapped to his left thigh, opposite his sidearm on the right, and he had an urban combat phase rifle dangling from his web gear on his chest. A shorter rifle for fighting in alleyways and inside structures.

Nira--well, Nira was dressed in her bikini as always, her various blades placed around her body for ease and comfort, and her bow and quiver over her back. Her feet were bare, as per usual, since her feet were well acclimated to being unshod.

All three arrived at the shuttle and came together in a small group.

Davis looked over as three of the shuttle crew arrived "The bridge has cleared us to launch when the word is given."

Silk gave a chuckle, thumbing toward Davis. "I like this one, full of good news."

Bjorgo replied cynically, but the snarky sass behind it was meant in fun. "Shut up and get on board."

Nira sighed and shook her head as she shoulder between, and passed them. "Males. Same everywhere." Getting to the open hatch Nira stepped aboard and went to an out of the way corner of the main area. She sat down lotus and waited, once placing her bow on the deck next to her.

Silk gave Tore an arched eyebrow, smiling as he asked. "Did we just get insulted?"

"Pretty much," admitted Bjorgo, giving a chuckle of his own. "If you knew how she felt about the Commodore, you would understand her focus. People are going to die once we put our boots to turf, and Nira is not particular when it comes to saving this crew."

"I like her even more now." Sean walked away with that last bit, boarding and finding his place in the co-pilot seat.

Davis and Jones got into position, there was one mission, bring the commodore back."

Silk looked around and then moved so Jones could sit. "Sorry, pilot, no disrespect." Glancing even further around. "Guess the marines aren't coming, except this one. They get five more minutes, then we launch. Don't ask, just close up and launch."

Jones stood "Davis and I are under strict orders from Lieutenant Rivers to escort you to the planet, we're both fighter pilots and we train with the marines as does Lieutenant Rivers. Our fighters are loaded for bear. We're ready, I'll get back aboard my fighter. She's also ordered us to follow your orders to the letter."

Planet Surface:

Amos checked again on Cyndi, she'd been out for nearly twelve hours now. Walking to her bed, he placed his hand on her forehead as sighed, she was still burning up and he didn't know how to cool her off or what he needed to do for her. She'd put up a hell of a fight with Usher and it had cost her to be tortured, shackled so tightly that it had left bruises and cuts on her wrists and ankles that were bleeding. He'd witnessed Usher throwing water on her and then using the electrodes. He was surprised she'd survived that. There was a time when that wouldn't have bothered him but hearing her plead to be set free because of her son his heart had melted and he vowed he'd do what ever he could to protect her.

Shaking his head as he was a loss how to help her. Amos walked from her bedroom, and pulled the door shut behind him. Walking onto the porch he looked up at the sky trying to pull her ship and help out of thin air.

Amos had headed to town and returned a short time later with some supplies. He'd bought some bandages for her wrists and ankles. Looking back to the sky "I wish you could hear me, she needs you." He then walked back into the apartment.

Amos walked into the kitchen and made a lite dinner, once Cyndi was back on her ship and back on her feet he was going to miss taking care of her. Had they both not been married Amos would have considered dating her. Picking up the tray he carried it to her room and gently shook her to wake her up in hopes she'd want to eat. He'd gotten breakfast down her and then she'd fallen asleep.

Shuttle:

Silk's tricorder vibrated in its holster on his belt. He pulled it up and flipped it open, reading. "Alright, we have coords for Song's location. The Captain has a plan for Hurd so we are cleared to leave." He closed his tricorder and holstered it, then looked around at all there. "Let's get moving."

Davis climbed into his fighter, nodded to Jones as they fired them up, they had their weapons aboard and the fighters were fully charged. The bay doors opened and the two fighters flew into space and waited for the shuttle to clear the ship.

With the Amandora now dropped from warp, and the fighters exiting, Bjorgo looked around. "Not that I can't but, does anyone wanna drive?"

Alesha had signaled to one of her pilots to report to the shuttle bay in case a pilot was needed. Private Edwards had just boarded the shuttle when she heard the question.

I'm Private Carla Edwards, Lieutenant Rivers told me to report to the shuttle bay if you needed a pilot. I'm qualified to pilot shuttles. Just tell me where we're going," she said taking a seat in the cockpit.

The Doctor walked over right behind her and when she sat down and asked her query, Bjorgo hovered over her, leaning on his arms with one hand placed on the back of the chair and the other placed flat and firm on the control panel. Tapping a few keys with his right hand a small topographical and colony map popped up, with a blue blip in one section of town. "We're going there, Private Edwards. Get us as close as you can, yet give the shuttle some cover. We'll leg it from the landing zone."

Silk gave a nod as he sat in one of the aft seats, his gear having been checked twice, already. "What the Doc said, Edwards. Get our boots in the turf."

Nira sat over in her corner on the carpeted floor, sitting in the lotus position, her eyes closed as she meditated slightly while taking in all environmental stimuli. Her brow furrowed and her face scrunched a bit as she felt a presence...someone she had known years ago. But, alas, they had drifted apart as friends. Sending her thoughts and mind out into the multiverse Nira continued to try and track that wayward, familiar presence. Then, there was a full presence presented in her conscious mind and the elation that filled her heart was difficult to suppress, but she kept it to herself.

Sean had been watching Nira, how her face was contorting while she meditated. Must have been one hell of a yoga session, he thought.

Nira's eyes popped open and she stood from Lotus without using her hands. "I must go! We have ally." She raised her hands and made quick motions as she had slid her gold hoops over her fingers like rings. Her Eldritch portal opened and she hopped through into what looked like some dark woods.

"Nira, wait!" Bjorgo called after her, but to no avail. The Puazi was quick on the take once galvanized into action. They would see her somewhere below, he was sure.

"Edwards, why are we still sitting here? Let's go, marine." Silk gave a chuckle at the end of it.

Carla didn't need anymore urging, firing the thruster's she lifted off and as soon as they were clear of the ship punched the shuttle to warp and headed for the planet, the two fighters came in alongside.

A short time later Carla dropped from warp and after checking the coordinates headed for a area that was a few clicks away from where the cords indicated and set the shuttle down.

"Your a couple clicks away," Carla said getting to her feet. The fighters touched down nearby followed by Alesha and Tara's fighters.

"Good shit, Edwards," said Silk. "You should join me some time in the phaser range holo-deck." He then turned to the others. "Alright, we know what we're after. Let's get there, get our package, and blow this shithole. Doesn't matter who sees us, we are who we are. Personally, people need a little fear of Starfleet from time to time." He slapped the hatch release and the starboard entryway opened and the steps extended. Sean was outside in a hot second.

Bjorgo made sure he had what he needed then joined his companion outside. "Nira might cause more trouble than we need, Silk. Go easy on her. She is a warrior and fights from the heart."

"She's not bound by the same rules as we are, I get that, Doc." Silk was understanding. Plus, he liked the plucky little Puazi female. "I don't know much about her but, from what I've seen, she is the perfect soldier. No hesitation and she does what needs to be done to succeed."

Tore slapped Silk's shoulder. "She is now bound by our rules, pal. Kahn made her a CWO."

"As team leader, I got no beef with what she did." Admitted Sean. "I know she'll involve us when the time is right, or be there like the cavalry when we need her." Silk looked over at the fighters as they landed.

Alesha left her fighter as did Tara on standby as they walked over, "What do you need from us?" Alesha asked

"We need to find the commodore," Tara said.

Silk looked at Tara incredulously. "We know exactly where she is, Herculoid. The problem is all the people with guns between us and her. We're not leaving without her."

"Got that right," added Bjorgo.

"Agreed," Alesha said "We're ready, or fighters are on standby, Tara and I are ready to go."

"Let's go get the commodore," Tara said shouldering her phase rifle.

Silk took point, rifle held at the ready. Moving quickly, not really worried too much about being seen, he took them several blocks in the direction they needed to go. Nira stepped out from an alleyway ahead of him.

"Through here," said Nira, once the group was gathered. "Straight through alley and we at back of building Cyndi is in."

Silk again took lead and began to go through the alleyway, this time using dumpsters and power poles for cover as he hop-scotched down the street.

Alesha and Tara followed keeping a close eye out for anyone.

Both were prepared to shoot to kill if it meant saving the commodore.

Alesha tapped her ear piece "Edwards keep the shuttle hot and ready, stand guard no one that you don't know approaches the fighters or the shuttle shoot them. Herculoid and I have our fighters hot and on standby, we've located the commodore. Davis and Jones scan the area around the planet. Protect the Amandora, she has to drop shields to let us aboard."

Par for the course it began to rain. An all of a sudden downpour that was both noisy and drenching all in one.

"Like a cow pissing on a flat rock," stated Bjorgo.

"No shit," agreed Silk.

Nira gave them an arched eyebrow. "I know piss, I know rock, what is cow?"

"A fat beast," explained Silk. "They piss a lot." Best way to explain the comment quickly.

"Like a Hutt?" Asked Nira, completely innocent, as if she expected them to know what that creature was.

Both fellas gave each other a look, then they looked back to Nira, and in stereo inquired. "What's a Hutt?"

"Cyndi first, then I show." Promised Nira. "See you inside building." Nira ran off into the rainy night.

Bjorgo dropped to a knee and motioned for the others to follow along. A kneeling huddle. Silk reache4d into a thigh pocket and brought out a rolled up boonie hat. He put it on his head and immediately relieved the rain in his eyes as he to kneeled alongside the CMO. He could see that the other three were now just as drenched as he was, but the beautiful thing was that the rain was like a warm shower. More like a tropical storm.

Tara and Alesha stifled a giggle, they each owned a Mopeep, Alesha handed Tara a plastic rain hood "Put this on," Alesha told her as she looked to Silk "What do you want us to do?"

Silk looked to everyone in turn. "I say we go in quickly and snatch her up. Straight up the central staircase. It says she is on the fifth floor, the top floor. Once we join up with her then we can have Edwards beam us out two at a time."

"I like it," stated Bjorgo.

Nira with her quadriscopic senses was listening to every word while her eyes were looking at the building. She nudged Sean's shoulder with a light fist bump, then pointed off in the distance. "Look." They could all see the strange blue-white stick light in the distance. It only lasted a few seconds but it was enough. "I knew it!"

Tore looked over at the Puazi. "Knew what?"

"As you say, old friend." Explained Nira. "Cyndi is guarded by powerful ally."

"Better be an ally," stated Silk. "Or, I'll aerate their ass like a lawn. Alright, let's move." He led the way as they all got moving.

***

After twenty minutes of moving, and all with tired legs after the stair climb, they arrived on the floor in question. What made Silk nervous was the fact that no one had assaulted them. Either they truly didn't know where she was or this was one hell of a trap. After everyone got to the fifth floor and halted to let their legs recoup Silk went to move forward in the dimly lit corridor. Suddenly, the lights went out. Ambient illumination from door panels and exterior sources bled through enough that one could see, but they needed to tread carefully.

Green had waited until they had all arrived on the floor, now huddled in the staircase foyer. She saw one of these people prepare to come down the hall and she stepped out, saber hilt held at her side in her right hand. She could Sense what she had sensed before, an old friend. Nira Whisperwind.

Igniting her saber she stood her ground with feet shoulder-width apart and chin down. "Announce yourselves or come to harm."

Silk immediately stood tall and secured his rifle butt in his shoulder, aiming down range at this woman and her weirdo energy sword. More movement caught his eye as a small mechanical being rolled out at the feet of this woman (think BB-8, y'all). It made as if cowering behind the woman's legs. "You explain who you are first, lady, then we'll decide who harms who."

"Cosmo," said Green, talking to the cosmomech droid she had built from scratch. "Go see to the Commodore. Let me handle this." The droid gave a warble that sounded very much like OK, and he rolled away behind her quick as could be. She looked back to the marine. "My name is Rogue Green, Lt. Commander, Starfleet. The Commodore is injured and needs medical attention ASAP." She thumbed the switch on her hilt and the blade disappeared, then she hooked the hilt on her belt once more. "Come on, you can question me later. Third door on your left, behind me.."

Nira couldn't contain herself anymore and shouted with joy. "Ro-ro, it is Nira." She pushed passed Bjorgo and went passed Silk, effectively blocking his clear shot at the woman. The Puazi ran in and hugged Green with a great amount of love and happiness. "So good to see. Your power grows, I feel it."

Bjorgo walked up to Silk and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Drop the weapon, Silk. If Nira sees her as a friend, with Cyndi in danger, then this Green is a friend."

"Yeah, okay, I gathered that." Silk let his rifle dangle from his web gear. "Tara, Alesha, go down to the room while we fact check this gal a bit. Stay frosty."

"Understood," Alesha said as she gave the woman a warning look that she better be on the level. Leveling their phase rifles Tara and Alesha made their way to Amos apartment and entered weapons trained on him

"Alesha, Tara stand down!" Cyndi ordered. "This man is not going to harm me. That's an order."

Tara shouldered her weapon and looked at the man "I'm Lieutenant Herculoid and this is First Lieutenant Rivers, the commodore is our commanding officer."

"Name's Amos, the Princess is a friend..I hope."

Alesha walked over to Cyndi, removed her com-badge and placed it on Cyndi's shirt "Help is here sir, just hang on longer. Tara keep an eye on that door."

"Amos if the commodore vouches for you that's good enough for me," Tara said leveling her weapon again as she turned to face the door.

After checking Rogue's serial number through his tricorder, Bjorgo gave a positive nod. "She is Starfleet, Silk." He looked at the Lt. Commander. "Why are you here?"

Green gave a motion with her head to get them all moving to the room. "Undercover, Doctor. These slavers have attracted UFP attention, and with them now kidnapping and selling Starfleet personnel, then it just adds to the reasons they need to be shut down." They stepped into the room.

Tore's line of questions came to an end once he saw Song and her condition. "Excuse me," he said and hurried over to the Commodore. He set his medkit on the floor and opened it, setting up what he needed as he began treatment.

Silk had watched Bjorgo do his thing, and once he saw the Doc had it handled he didn't go over and try to get in the way. That's when a spherical droid rolled up below him, which caused him to crack a smile. It whistled, hooted and warbled at the Commander.

"The man over there is Amos." Ro chinned his way. "He helped Cyndi escape and got her to this apartment. I 'scanned' her and she will need help getting back to the shuttle, or it will take time for her to move well. Cosmo, here, says his scanner pick up no one moving this way with hostility. Now would be the opportune time to extract, Lieutenant."

"My com-badge is on the commodore," Alesaha said tapping her ear piece "Edwards lock onto my com-badge and Dr. Bjorgo, beam them directly to the shuttle."

"Understood," came the response and in seconds they were gone

Tara turned to Amos, "Stand close to us and we'll take you as well."

Tapping her ear piece again "Lock onto the rest of us and wide beam us out, if need be tie into our fighters," Alesha ordered.

Bjorgo and Song shimmered out, then tara and Alesha, then Nira and Amos. Silk reached out and grabbed Green's upper arm so she to was whisked away by the transporter. When they arrived aboard, finding it a bit crowded, they helped to move Song to a rack in the aft section so she could relax while being treated. The rest took seats where they could as Edwards lifted off and headed home. After landing aboard the Dora Bjorgo and Song were site-to-site transported to Sickbay. There was a Security team waiting to escort Green to the Bridge and she stepped in with them and began to move. The others dispersed to dress down and get back to duty.

The Commodore was home.
