Mission:
Weapon Investigating
Location: Breifing Room
Timeline: Current
ON:
Cyndi read and re-read her new orders and closed her lap top. Tapping her com-badge “This is the commodore, will the following officers report to the briefing room we have orders. Time to get back to work, Commander Kahn, Doctors Bjorgo and Long, Major Hurd, First Lieutenants Rivers and Jackson, Lieutenant McKeon, Lieutenants Yova and Thoros, Lieutenants James and Heather McTavish, Lieutenant Herculoid, Lieutenant JG Nix Dunjen” Getting up from her desk Cyndi walked into the briefing room to await her officers.
Already on the Bridge checking on the Marine Control Systems there, Hurd turned and walked over to and into the briefing room. Saluting, he said, "Good Day Ma'am, what's going on?".
"We have orders major and as soon as everyone is here I'll begin," Cyndi answered
Tara, Kristian and Alesha entered, Alesha seeing the major saluted before taking a position.
Tara and Kristian took seats
James McTavish heard the Commodore's call as he got up from his desk and walked to the Main Lab "Lieutenant we're needed in the briefing room" he said to Heather. "Ok I'm ready let's get going...we don't want to be late."
James and Heather entered the briefing room as James gave the usual nods to Command then they took their seats waiting for things to get started.
Tara smiled at James and Heather when they entered "It's going to be good to get back to work."
James nodded in agreement "But hopefully something a little less life threatening this time around" he commented referring to Cyndi's recent ordeal.
"I'll wait a few more minutes before I begin," Cyndi said.
Lt Thoros, the ships new Chief of Ops, entered and took the third slot back with his back to the window.
" NuqneH Commodore ." Thoros greeted.
Lieutenant JG Dunjen had just left her Quarters when she heard the Commodore's call to the Briefing Room. As she made her way there she was surprised at the call since she wasn't a department head...but orders were orders. Nix walked in and sat next to Heather and gave her a greeting.
Cyndi checked the time and stood and at the same time activated the holo emitter. "Thank you all for coming, we'll begin, anyone who comes in later I'll fill in. I've received orders from Admiral Wilson. Starfleet Intelligence has learned that the planet Quagmire is working a new weapon that is capable of instead of creating a planet, from a dead one or a moon it instead destroys the planet from the inside out. It makes no difference if the planet is inhabited or not. The weapon is in development but is close to production and testing so the clock is ticking. Our orders are to investigate and neutralize the project if needed. The Planet Quagmire is home to a species of dog like beings who walk on two legs most of the time but for hunting and speed drop to all fours. Their top speed is roughly forty miles per hour. The dog like beings call themselves Dogroons, they are fierce and short tempered when provoked." Cyndi paused to let this sink in and continued a few minutes later "Anyone have any questions, concerns or comments?"
Nix spoke up "Commodore I assume you'll being requiring some Infiltration work to see just how far and threatening their project has become" the Lieutenant JG queried.
Cyndi nodded "I will and that is why your in on the senior staff briefing. That weapon cannot fall into the wrong hands. Rivers how ready are the fighters should we need them?"
"Just say the word commodore," Alesha said
Entering late Odac Yova found his seat. Trying not to be noticed all heard him slid in.
"Lieutenant Yova thank you for joining us," Cyndi said as she brought him up to speed "What's the status of engineering?"
" Well I used the down time to make all needed repairs, hence my lateness. Captain this ship is as good now as it was on day one " Yova replied.
"I don't want to take us into a fire fight, but one can never tell," Cyndi said "Thank you lieutenant for your hard work."
Thoros cleared his throat.
" All operations systems have been updated Commodore. Your Chief Operations Officer is as well."
"Good to hear as that was my next question," Cyndi said "Anything else or any further questions?"
" What are our rules of engagement with these dog creatures?" Thoros asked
"We're not going to know until we arrive and see how they act and go from there," Cyndi replied.
" If your security finds themselves overwhelmed my mek'leth has carved up many targs. Their taste is out of this world," Thoros boasted.
"Let's not jump the gun, this could end peacefully or end up in a fire fight. Let's wait until we see how things go," Cyndi said.
" I will keep it close by Commodore. The updated operations console on the main bridge and auxiliary battle bridge are at optimal." Thoros added.
Hurd stood in the back, arms crossed. In his mind he was already formulating a plan to get this done. And that sent a slim, deadly smile across his face.
"Anyone else have questions or comments?" Cyndi asked .
Yova raised his hand.
" I missed some of your beginning statements but these configurations are heavily dangerous. Are these...things using antimatter energies?"
"All I know lieutenant is that this weapon can destroy a planet or a moon from the inside out according to reports from Starfleet Intelligence," Cyndi responded "Reports do not say what is powering it."
Hurd also raised his hand, waiting his turn to speak.
Seeing Hurd's raised hand "Yes major."
"This scares me, and that takes quite a bit to do." "I'd suggest a 3 person covert Intel team, one equipped with the tools, skills, and, if necessary, the charges to end this threat as soon as possible".
"Lieutenant Nix, get with Intel and be ready once we get there," Cyndi said "Anything else?"
