Mission: Healing Touch-3
Location: Briefing Room
Timeline: Current

ON:

Cyndi after reading the report from science about the planet tapped her com-badge and called her senor staff to the conference room. What Lieutenant Herculoid had found was was interesting.

Tara followed Cyndi into the conference room and took a seat to await the rest of the officers.

Kristian hearing the call headed from sick bay and entered the conference room. Seeing her cousin already there she walked over and took a seat near her.

Tabitha had just finished counseling a Crew member when the call came through; grabbing her PaDD she headed for the Conference Room. Walking in with a smile "Good day ladies" she commented before taking an empty seat.

"Counselor how are you settling in?" Cyndi asked.

Alister entered the conference room PADD and coffee in his hands as he took his regular seat. “Commodore,” he said with a nod of his head as he read something off the PADD he had giving a slight frown as he sipped his coffee.

"Quite well Commodore and thank you for asking" Tabitha answered with a smile.

Emma Parker came in the room and took a seat, a hot cup of coffee in one hand a padd in the other. She nodded to those present and waited for the meeting to start.

"I'll give everyone a few more minutes before we begin," Cyndi said "If you've not already met her we have a new ship's counselor, Lieutenant Tabatha O'Neil."

With a smile "Hello everyone, I look forward to getting to know each one of you as time goes on. If you ever need an ear, please don't hesitate to get in contact with me" Tabitha commented with sincerity.

Benjamin walks into the room, he takes a seat next to Cyndi. "Greetings Commodore." He simply said what the smile on his face, and then he looked over to Emma and gave her a simple nod as he waited for the meeting to start"

Cyndi checked the time, "Lieutenant Herculoid and the science department have run extensive scans on the planet along with probes. Lieutenant what have your scans found?"

Tara switched on the viewers so everyone could see the planet, "Thank you commodore, the planet is roughly about the same size as Earth, the climate does vary, the inhabitants are humanoid, they are pre-warp and primitive. They have no technology at all. The climate where the lifeforms I've found reside in an area that is about fifty square miles, it reminds me of a tropical rain forest. It is a wooded area with a clearing where structures have been found. The structures appear to be made from adobe style bricks with the roof being that of leaves tied together." Tara switched the image to show the structures, then another image showing the inhabitants, from what I've been able to scan they wear skins, the men wear garments around the waist while the women wear garments that resemble dresses that are tied at the shoulders. The men also have beards some are longer than others. Their weapons are spears and bows and arrows. I also picked up some forms of what looks like large animals. What they are I can't tell yet."

“That’s a small area for a population,” Alister said from his seat, “Do they even have enough population to survive?”

Emma paused as she was taking notes for herself. “Do we have any idea will how they stand scientifically?”

"We'll have no idea until we beam down and stay among them for a few days," Cyndi commented.

"I'd like to go, see how healthy they are and if there is anything medical I can do for them," Kristian commented

"We'll have to replicate attire so we can blend in," Tara suggested.

"Yes that would be paramount in order to maintain the Prime Directive" Tabitha stated before continuing "And I'm sure you're all aware of keeping any tech hidden from view."

"Small pouches that are only big enough to hide a tricoder and a phaser. Com-badges must be kept out of sight. The ship will have a transporter lock on us at all times. It's paramount that these people do not see using anything that will violate the prime directive," Cyndi said

“Sounds pretty smooth.” Emma added. “Everyone should be prepared for the unexpected.”

"Standard phasers and only on stun, They cannot be seen unless it's a very dire emergency. Since this is a primitive society we have to be careful not to violate the Prime Directive. Doctor Long see to it that the male members of the away team have beards. Everyone replicate the necessary attire . We'll beam down just on the outskirts of the woods that has been discovered and from there we'll walk to the village," Cyndi said "Any questions? I'd like to beam down in two hours. And yes I am going as well this is a unique opportunity."

Hearing Cyndi say she was going on the away mission gave Tabitha the tendency to take pause but decided to keep it to herself since she was the new kid on the block.

"Who's going to be in command of the ship if you're going down on the mission?" Benjamin asked, knowing that was a question that was on everyone's mind.

"I'm leaving the ship in Captain Rivers hands. She is command rated and there is no reason she cannot command it while we're on the planet surface," Cyndi replied.

Very well but I must insist that we have additional security, on they're ready in case things go sideways. Having our complete command team down on the planetside could be dangerous especially for a pre-warp society.

“Commodore,” Alister said from his spot, “If it’s alright with you, I don’t see any need for myself to beam down, and the amount of paperwork I need to go thru is staggering at the moment. I would be happy to stay on board and leave Captain Rivers with at least one department head on board. Besides if something does go wrong it might be better to send my team down rather then Security dropping in phasers ready.”

"I'll agree to it. While Rivers is command rated it won't hurt to have another department head aboard. We should be okay down there. Additional security is a good idea too," Cyndi said "We'll also have a transporter lock on us at all times. Everyone please remember is it pre-warp and primitive. We cannot violate the prime directive. We do it's my butt that will get chewed on."

Sabbath who had recently returned like a prodigal child had read Lt Herculoids reports joined in as the Commodore mentioned the prime directive and her butt.

" I apologize for my absence. I was reading Lieutenant Herculoids reports concerning the planet. " Sabbath explained.

"Well I'm glad you made it, we're about to wrap up. The captain's joining our away team and I suggested to her more Security on standby." Benjamin suggested is he looked over to Sabbath.

"If this is to be a first contact situation a large amount of security and weapons might not be a prudent course. How many are going down armed?" Sabbath replied.

“With all due respect.” Emma spoke up with determination. “Security is going. The commodore and first officer are going and there is no way in hell I will allow it.”

I am in agreement with Commander Parker." Benjamin started to say, as he continued on. "A Flag Officer of the Federation, should have security escort."

" I would not presume to debate Star Fleet General orders. I was just wishing to point out weapons do not make friends unless we are to assume the primitive mindset." Sabbath replied.

Hearing the conversation going back and forth about security Tabitha knew she needed to respond "With respect to all of you, from a Counselor's point of view, the more weapons on the surface the greater chance of them being exposed and violating the Prime Directive. Send Security if you must but please limit the number of persons armed and only with phasers" she replied with some concern.

"Emma send security as many as you see fit, standard phasers set on stun, Lieutenant Herculoid please remind everyone what your scans have revealed about this planet," Cyndi said

"Thank you commodore, as my report said earlier this is a pre-warp planet and primitive. Weapons are spears and bows and arrows. Men have beards some longer than others. Clothing is men are in garments around the waist, the women are in simple dress like garments tied at one shoulder.. Garments are made of skins. We'll need to replicate the necessary attire so we'll blend in with everyone. I recommend we beam down in the tree line so they don't see us just appear. The people live in huts with thatched roofs. The commodore suggested we all carry a satchel that will be big enough to conceal our tri-coders, and phasers." Tara replied

"As the lieutenant reported this is a primitive society, all technology must be kept out of sight. Com-badges must be concealed as well. Men report to sick bay and have Doctor Long get your facial hair to grow," Cyndi said .

Sabbath found the entire conversation fascinating as they prepared to invade this primitive society. Surmising the Preservers must have felt similar when visiting all those Earth societies.

"Does anyone have any questions regarding the mission or their specific duties?" Benjamin asked, as he looked to the senior staff.

" Since I was late to arrive for this mission briefing what is my role Commander ?" Sabbath asked.

"Discreetly as possible you and your team need to take scan since this is a primitives society we cannot allow our technology to be seen by them so you're going to need to find creative ways in order to scan them. We're kind of going into this mission a little blind." Benjamin said is he looked over to the chief science officer.

" Ironic you should use the word blind. A holographic blind is often used in matters such as this. We could also go by night and construct a more primitive version in order to scan the camp." Sabbath replied.

Emma continued to listen already assessing who she would take. They would have weapons but her officers were smart enough to keep them out of sight. They knew the importance of keeping a low profile.

"A blind is an option, however I'd like to mingle with the inhabitants of the planet. Perhaps live among then for a time and see how they live," Cyndi said.

Kristian looked to her cousin and they exchanged a look "Our home world has a moon that is in the early stages of development, it's not as advanced as this planet we're going to, There is a blind set up in the rock face where they can be observed and there is no contact. My point is I like the commodore's suggestion that we mingle with them. We can always discreetly scan things without being seen. Now if medical help is needed that is done carefully."

"I'm not seeing any other questions I think we're ready." Benjamin said with the big warm smile, as he look over to Cyndi.

As an Anthropologist Sabbath did not agree with the Commodores approach. His was also a biased opinion having been raised among the culture of the Southern American people known as the Awa. The Vulcan's had lived initially apart but later integrated into this people's life. But had that been a good thing given they never accepted the Vulcan society?

Not hearing any further comments "I think the XO is right, It's time to get ready for the trip to the planet, sciences fine a place to beam down where we won't be spotted and where we can walk to the village, men report to sick bay where Dr Long can enhance your beards so they can grow before we head down. Security I don't need to tell you how to do your job as I'm already sure you know who your taking. I cannot stress this enough that phasers, tri-coders, com-badges be kept out of sight and any other technology we're taking with us. Replicate necessary attire. Let's meet in transporter room two in say three hours. That should give everyone time to get ready and give me time to inform Captain Rivers she'll be in command of the ship while we're away. Okay dismissed and I'll see you all i transporter room three," Cyndi said
