I'll start the boarding JP soon, I'm in another JP that will tie into this one.

ON:

After getting word that the Iwo Jima was on long range sensors Cyndi alerted the major and tapped her com-badge "Will thhe following officers and marines report to the briefing room, Major Hurd, Doctor Borjo, Lieutenants Rivers, Jackson, McTavish and McKeon."

James had just left the Biology Lab on Deck 5 and was about to go to the Astrometrics Lab on Deck 12 when the Commodore's voice came over his Comm, he then replied "James McTavish, on my way Ma'am." He quickly made his way to the Bridge's Briefing Room and entered "Commodore", then made his way to a chair wondering what was going on.

Alister entered the briefing room with a nod toward the Commodore before grabbing a coffee from the room’s replicator and taking a seat around the table, “I take it we’ve arrived ma’am?”

Walking into the room, David's mood, for once, was subdued. Nodding to the Commodore, he stood towards the front of the room. Thoughts running through his mind, he just wandered if the people going along with him realized just how much carnage and heartbreak they were fixing to walk into, because even David himself didn't even really realize himself.

Alesha walked in and nodded to the major and took a position near the door.

"Yes we've arrived. The Iwo Jima is on long range sensors now," Cyndi said "I;m holding us in transporter range and we're at yellow alert. I'll give the others a few more minutes. Lieutenant McKeon is there anything you wish to share currently?"

“It wasn’t cheap, but I got us moved to the front the Lee has orders to make all possible speed to us for rendezvous,” Alister said from his seat. “We do have the equipment to set up a remote link for the slicer already on hand and I have a team to carry out setting the link up.”

Greg entered the briefing room and took his seat with a nod at the Commodore.

"For those of you who do not know yet this is Lieutenant Alistar McKeon, he's our new Intel officer. The slicer he speaks of is someone who can check the Iwo Jima's communications to see if they've been hacked," Cyndi said "While we all worry about command codes there are communication codes that could have been broken and if so valuable information could be out there." Cyndi turned to Major Hurd "Major please bring everyone up to speed on the Iwo Jima. Everyone here myself included has seen death."

Nodding, Hurd picked up a padd and read a excerpt from the official loss report. "At 0945 Hours U.S.S Paris Island, Sovereign Class, Registry NCC-29876, vanished from the battle area around Betazed during the Dominion War." "Paris Island, which was crewed by a all Starlfeet Marine crew and carrying the 721st division, was reported to be a fire, with life support and Main Power down, with several uncontained hull Breeches, was never seen after this".

Clearing his throat, he said, "Well that's not the case anymore." Pulling up a visual, which contained a picture of the once mighty ship floating cold, quiet, and ripped asunder, he added, "We found her". Looking around he continued, "Somehow, a signal was sent from that ship to SMC HQ, and not only sent, but sent in a Marine Code, that has never been broken". The sending alone should be impossible because their ssd's should be absolutely nobody alive aboard, no power, and their is a zero chance they learned that code enough to send a sos in it".

“The ship has been missing for a long time Major, and experience says no codes are unbreakable,” Alister said from his seat, “It might be unlikely that the code has been broken but it needs to be looked at, and investigated before we can rule it out.”

"Agreed," Cyndi said "Science full sensor sweep and launch a probe. I want to know what we're dealing with before I permit the major or anyone to board that ship. Rivers take a fighter out and check the surrounding space."

"As you wish Commodore" James replied figuring he would go to the Science Station after the briefing.

"I'll take a fighter out with a wingman and see what is out there," Alesha responded.

Bjorgo had shown up for the meeting, while the others had all been talking amongst themselves. He side-stepped and remained silent, listening to all that was being said while up against a bulkhead. The past several months he had been sequestered in his lab for Starfleet Command, and the Federation Council in regards to genetic engineering and research. And, of course, Nira was discussed at length, and while the Doctor had remained in his Top Secret lockdown he had began to educate the Puazi female in the ways of the UFP culture.

As Alesha finished saying her piece the Doctor stepped forward half a pace. "It is my experience that nothing is impossible when it comes to survival. You either do it, or you don't. Space is filled with infinite energy. All it takes is figuring out how to harness it." He gave a pleasant nod at that. Once that had been said his face became a bit more serious. "Brace yourselves. What we find over there may be...unpleasant, to say the least. Steel yourselves and hold it together."

Nodding, Hurd added, "I'd also advise against boarding her or scanning her much until I get aboard with a portable power supply". Seeing the looks, he added, "Reason I say that is Marine Vessels are booby trapped stem to stern just for scenarios like the Iwo is in". I have her Command and Authorization codes," he said holding up a PADD, "But I need to get to her Bridge, power up the Security Console, enter my biometric data, and from there I can shut every trap on the ship down".

James was listening very carefully as the Major was explaining the situation, but had to ask "So...do you want Science to hold off on the scans and probe for the time being? If so I can always have the other Lieutenant McTavish do the scans after the Major is done with his prep work..that is if I'm not aboard Ship."

"Major," Alesha said "With all due respect your not going over there alone."

Cyndi looked at McTavish and then to the major "Being a scientist myself I know as dose the science chief that a scan can be used to check out the surrounding area to make sure there is no one else out there. Wide beam and one fighter to scout ahead."

James looked over at Cyndi and nodded in agreement. He'd probably shouldn't have even asked the question; but he now knew exactly what the Commodore was looking for in regards to information which would save a lot of time.

Hurd smiled halfheartedly and said, " With respect to you all, before anything is done, those booby traps have to be disarmed , otherwise anyone or anything you send near the ship could be destroyed or killed." "I know I slip aboard and disarm them, but it will take a half hour or so depending". Falling silent for a second he added, "And Rivers, I appreciate your concern but until those traps are disarmed I have to board her alone".

Alesha shook her head, "Sir with all due respect you'd not permit one of us to board anything alone. I'll go with you and have your six. Anything happens to you alone no one will know and you've said you can't beam over wish means you'll need to take a shuttle over." Alesha looked over to Jackson to see if he agreed with her or had any other suggestions."

"Marines and their idiotic paranoia," said Bjorgo to himself, but in an even voice tone. It was not meant to be hidden. "I'm thinking he wants to space walk with a jetpack. Am I right, Major?"

“I don’t think everything should relay on a single person,” Greg said from his seat, “We also don’t know that everything is working, it wouldn’t surprise me with the damage we can see if most of the traps aren’t working.

Alister gave a shake of his head, “If we delay until the Lee arrives it contains a number of stealth suits. The sensors wouldn’t even detect us boarding the vessel if anything still works over there. We could simply go aboard grab data and then reassess the situation once we know more.”

Sneering at Bjorgo, he said, in a icy tone, "I'd watch who you call paranoid, and secondly, I hate eva activity so don't assume things". Turning to the rest, he said, " I'll give you some of those traps mag be offline but enough danger remains that a 1 person tactical boarding remains preferential." "Oh, and about those suits you mentioned Alister, I have 2 of the Marine Varieties in a locked arms locker in my office".

"Major," Alesha said "I'd feel better if you let me go with you to have your six just in case there is something more dangerous over there."

“Then please impress us with your plan for the one man boarding operation if you encounter the Security console on the bridge blown to pieces,” Alister said from his seat, “You’re boarding a blown out wreck with who knows how much damage, trapped from stem to stern and you’re hoping to disable everything from a single console that you hope is still intact and hope everything is still connected and talking to said console. You need to make sure you board EVA enter a hole not tearing a hole in your suit while lugging a power generator aboard. Plug in the generator, hope the command codes function and disable all traps and then conduct a general boarding of the ship with EVA gear and hope the ship is somehow salvageable?”

Growing angry, Hurd bellowd, "Are you calling weak, scared or stupid, because it's really pissing me off Alister".

“I would go with glory seeker every department has offered assistance and you insist on going alone. You admit you can send two people over in stealth suits and you go with a single man operation,” Alister responded evenly from his seat, “If you don’t want to wait for the Lee to arrive and possibly assist then use the resources you have fully. Two stealth suits means two people should make up your boarding operation. I don’t care who you pick for a second person, if you want it to be an all Marine boarding fine, pick one of your Marines to assist, the 1st Lieutenant has volunteered. If I wasn’t concerned about this ship being dumped here on purpose after someone got what they wanted I would simply wash my hands of the matter and let you go about it however you wished without a word being said Major. However I would be failing in my duty if I didn’t make sure no one had a look see in that ship’s computers, and what info they could have gotten and if someone did access those files. So no Major I’m not poking holes in your plan for fun, but a concern that something is going to go wrong with a single person on the mission, that will cause us to never know why this ship suddenly appeared a long way from where she was suppose to be.”

"Gentlemen!" Cyndi spoke up "I'm not in favor at all of a one man boarding party. The Intel Officer has a valid point, while I can order this, I will make a suggestion. Major we'll wait for the Lee to get here, then I'd like you to take Rivers and Alistar over there. He has valid points. Something about this does not sound or feel right. That ship was lost and suddenly appears and with a distress code you say cannot be broken, it's got more holes in it than swiss cheese. Yes it could be booby trapped we'll not know until you board it. Or there may be no booby traps. But I will not permit you to board her alone."

His hands balling up onto fists, Hurd took a deep breath and said, "Understood Commodore.". Casting one last look at Alister, he grunted, "Sorry, did not intend to insult you."

“Thick skin comes with the position,” Alister said from his seat with a wave of his hand, “Once the traps are disabled I assume we’re still carrying out the boarding EVA until we can guarantee that everything has turned off?”

"I'll have your backs," Alesha said
