#31 Status Report

Posted on Mon Jun 13th, 2022 @ 10:22pm by Captain Rogue Green {Meji} & Captain Sean Silk & Chief Warrant Officer Niraasha "Nira" Whisperwind & Commodore Cyndi Song & Lieutenant Commander Kristian Long & Rear Admiral Paul Sanderson

Mission: Rescue On Romulus
Location: Sick Bay
Timeline: Current

ON:

Kristian had, had Kahn and Nira directly beamed to sick bay. Kahn's injuries were serious, she'd spent nearly an hour in surgery trying to repair the damage. After placing Kahn in recovery Kristian removed her gloves and brushed back several strands of hair that had come lose.

Nira's injuries were also serious and Kristian did what she knew how to do for her. She'd be fine but all concern was for the ship's first officer.

Silk was at Kahn's side, getting her set in a sterilization field. He knew some things about the Trill medicine, but not enough to save a life. He had taken an elective on it in the Academy. One thing he did know how to do was preserve and save the Symbiont. Once the sterile field was active so people could start administering, Silk removed his gloves and tossed them in the medical refuse bin, looking to Kris. "Doctor Long, I know how to prep a medical tank for the Symbiont. We have such a tank in the medical lab. Permission to get in there and mix the proper solution and get the tank warming." He didn't want to admit that Liza may be lost, but seeing all the blood and how pale she was. Sean kept that to himself.

Kristian walked back over to where Kahn was and checked again. It had been a long time since she'd lost a patient and she knew Kahn was bad "Prep the tank, if she is gone then we have to save the Symbiont at all costs. Damnit!" she fumed "Liza don't you dare die on me!"

Green walked in just behind the Commodore, letting the CO go over to Kristian while she paused and laid a hand on Nira's shoulder. The Puazi gave a nod that she was alright, just healing up the tortured flesh and trauma beneath. Steeling herself for the worst, feeling Liza slipping away with each passing minute. Kahn had gone into hibernation, saving it's own strength to try and survive long enough for another host. It was saddened by losing its new host so early in her life. Tragedy struck when least expected. Ro came up next to Cyndi and had to use a bit of Core Control to keep from reacting in any way to how bad Liza looked

"Doctor Long report," Cyndi asked

Kristian turned from Liza, took a deep breath "She's bad commodore, I did everything I could, but there was far too much damage. She's gone, I'm sorry sir. I tried. Doctor Silk has prepared the tank for the Symbiont and it's in there now."

"It's not your fault doctor," Paul said

"He's right, you did your best," Cyndi said.

"I can empathize, Kris," said Ro. "Nira was closest so I used my reserves to keep her alive. Now, at least, my guilt is assuaged somewhat by the knowledge that one of them will survive. As soon as we get passed the Expanse, the Neutral Zone and Federation space are just on the other side. We can't send messages right now with the Expanse in the way and us heading toward it. But, Kahn will need a host soon if it can't get back to the Hebetian baths on Trill."

"I can keep it alive in the warming tank Sean has prepared for roughly a week. I've done one Symbiont transfer and that's been years ago. We do need to get to Trill. I can take a shuttle once clear and take them to Trill," Kristian said.

"That would be ideal but a trip to Trill is a long one," answered Green. "Once we're back in our yard then we can stop to think it through more. By my estimates we have roughly 37 minutes before we hit the Zone. That means we're entering the Expanse now and all comms outside the ship will be blocked. But, that works both ways. Any pursuers will suffer the same fate."

Kristian nodded "It is and we're a long way from Trill. But Nix is still on that moon, we just can't leave her there. She managed to rescue two of them."

"And hopefully we won't have any war birds on our tail," Paul commented

"I want to know why they boarded my ship, we were under a flag of peace," Cyndi remarked.

Green was going to respond to what Cyndi had said but it finally caught up with her brain what Long had said. "Nix is still on that moon!?" Green stepped right in front of Cyndi, almost at attention. "Allow me to mount a rescue operation, Commodore. Alesha and I in her cloaked fighter. If we squeeze just right then Nix can ride on my lap on the way home. Once her fighter is prepped then we drop from warp long enough for us to launch while cloaked and beat feet back to that moon." She stepped back a casual distance. "As for why they boarded, perhaps they detected something odd and acted since a Senator was on board. Other than that I have no answers."

"Commodore, Cyndi, Alesha can have the fighter beamed into space once stopped, just as the transporter beam locks onto her she can cloak the fighter and once in space fire the engines and take off. I know how it sounds, but it can be done. Not many pilots can pull that off. On my planet she's one of only three that can do it."

"Her cloak won't work in the Nebula," Cyndi reminded her

"I know this, stop just before the Nebula, get Alesah, Commander Green off and then head into the Nebula," Kristian said "Conditions on that moon are harsh, Nix won't last long there. Alesha also reported there are a lot of prisoners being held in those underground cells. Is there anyway we can free them?"

Cyndi looked to Ro, "Permission granted, get with Rivers and go. Doctor as for your request, I don't know, what you ask is highly unusual."

Cloaks work fine in the Fazon Expanse," stated Green. "Shinzon and his ship Scimitar remained cloaked while fighting the Enterprise and two other Valdor-class warbirds. However, the beaming will get us sent off faster." She then had an epiphany. "The transporter may be what they had detected initially, and caused them to board. If that's the case then any pursuers may fall back to try and detect whatever it is we are beaming. An advantage either way.

Ro reached up and tapped her combadge. "Green to Rivers. Prep your fighter, Lieutenant, we have a rescue op. to get to. The sooner the better. Green out." The transmission cut and she looked to the others. "Dunjen is coming home, you have my word, folks." Her eyes met Song's. "Once we're home there is something I need to speak to you about. Something personal. Anyway," she shook that off. "I need to get moving so I can change into something a lot less Starfleet in appearance."

Kristian watched Ro leave and turned back to Cyndi "She may be right, Alesha beamed her fighter out and back. If the Romulans picked up the transporter beam. That explains it,"

"You have a point doctor," Paul commented

Cyndi walked over to where Sean and Nira were, placing a hand on the Puzi's shoulder "Nira, I'm sorry you for hurt, how are you?"

Nira put her hand over the top of Cyndi's as it was on her shoulder, giving a friendly squeeze. "I am fine. The good Doctor here," she motioned at Silk. "Has tended to my wounds. I am ready for duty, Commodore." She still trilled her R's, and some words were said with a Eastern European lilt, but it was plain as day and not broken.

"I can second that, Sir. She is fine to return to duty." Said Silk.

"As long as the doctor says your okay then you have my permission to return to duty," Cyndi said "Your language has come a long way."

"I'll sign off commodore as I agree with Sean," Kristian commented "She heals fast."

"Thank you both for what you've done, neither of you are to blame for Liza's death," Cyndi said "If anyone is to blame it's me, I'm responsible for everyone on the ship."

"Cyndi this is not your fault," Paul said firmly "You did nothing wrong."

"Hey," popped out of Silk, getting their attention. "Now is not the time for that, Commodore. If you don't get focused we could lose the whole ship. And the Dora would be quite a prize to haul back to Romulus. Nira got called by Security and acknowledged it. "I must go." She gave Sean a peck. "See you later." She pranced off and out the door.

Silk actually blushed a bit. "Apologies, Sir. She's...rambunctious."

"He's right Cyndi, I know how you feel about losing anyone. But not to sound harsh. Your ship needs you and does the crew. Pull yourself together and get to the bridge and take charge of this," Paul said firmly "You can deal with your feelings later, right now the safety of your ship and crew come first."

"Your husband is right Cyndi, this could have been a lot worse. And we're not out of it yet," Kristian said "We need you, we look up to you."

Cyndi nodded "I know, I'll be on the bridge,"

As that was said the main Sickbay entrance opened and in walked Raena the Romulan envoy, followed by a pair of very serious looking Security officers. "Excuse me, Commodore, but this Envoy wishes to speak with you."

Raena gave a slight bow from the neck and stepped in closer, again followed closely by her guards. "Commodore, we need to talk." The eyes of the Romulan Envoy were sarcastic, cynical, mirthful and mischievous, all in a single glance. It was obvious that she had a hidden agenda and she wasn't afraid to hide it at this time. "Now that we're alone."

"Ambassador," Kristian greeted "Commodore your welcome to use my office,"

"Thank you doctor," Cyndi said "Ambassador if you'll follow me." Cyndi led the way to the CMO's office, "Please have a seat."

"Oh, no, this is fine," answered Raena. "There are no other Romulans here aside from myself, and I trust you won't be tattling on me? No? Good." Her clipped British accent made her tone that much more snarky at times. An accent she had learned to use well and had made a part of herself. Her father would have been proud. "I need Long here, as well. Commodore, it is I, Alona Tal. The Romulan Centurion who had once served with you. This is a disguise, obviously since my loyalty is with the Romulan Republic faction." She looked to Long. "And, Kris, with just a minor alteration to my facial structure as it is will unveil my true form." A grin and wink. "I like to hide in plain sight."

"Tal? It's been a long time," Kristian said "Have a seat on that bio bed and I'll get my instruments,"

Cyndi turned to the guards "You can wait outside, we're in no danger here and I am armed." Cyndi ordered giving Tal a wink

Kristian returned a few minutes later and set her instruments on a table and set to work."

Alona/Raena watched the two sentries step out into the corridor. "Thank you, Commodore. They were a bit...clingy." She gave a lascivious grin. "And not in the good way."

"They don't know you and were following orders," Cyndi said

After a few minutes Kristain put her instruments down and smiled "It's good to see a friendly face again."

Alona took up a hand mirror and looked at her face, touching all the places where the surgery had changed her appearance. It had been slight and as always Long performed well. She set the mirror down. "Thank you, Doctor. I'm sure my size and uniform requirements are still in the computer. If you don't mind I will change into my uniform for the Romulan Republic?"

"Permission granted, I do have questions and I'm sure they'll be answered in time," Cyndi replied "It's good to see you again."

Alona went to the replicator and created her uniform that was still in the data files. Skimming down to her knickers she then redressed properly, now in the proper uniform for a Centurion of the Romulan Republic. "Makes me shiver every time I put it on. I'd mention other effects but, pleasant company, and all."

Silk had stood by as the ladies spoke. Seeing that this Raena was known to the command staff he then stepped forward. "Skipper, permission to join the search. I'll leave the two Security behind for Sickbay, just in case. I honestly doubt there is anyone else. But, we have leverage. Romulan diplomats and ministers. Don't be shy about using them."

"Permission granted lieutenant and don't worry I do plan on using them, I doubt there is anyone else aboard either but it can't hurt just in case," Cyndi replied "Paul I'd feel a lot better right now if you'd go to our quarters. I have enough to worry about and I don't need you distracting me."

Silk gave a nod of thanks and went to his medical locker, exchanging his medical belt for his tactical belt, buckling his phase pistol down at the thigh. Accessing the armory as a qualified combatant he grabbed his MACo style rifle and closed the small cache and locked it. Out the door he went.

Everyone broke and went their separate ways to perform their duties. Right now the most important thing was getting out of Romulan space, through the NZ and into their own territory. Anything else could wait.
